Kamloops, BC – Cape Group, an experienced, 3-generation development company from Vancouver, held a ground breaking ceremony on Tuesday at Thompson Rivers University for Creston House, the first development at The Reach, a 90-acre master-planned community surrounding the TRU Campus.
Creston House will consist of a 56-unit, modern condominium building on 1 acre of land located on the North Side of TRU’s Old Main building. Boasting world class views of the North Thompson Valley, Creston House features a mix of one and two bedroom units, along with 3 bedroom penthouse units.
TRU President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Alan Shaver, opened the ceremony saying “As TRU has grown, so has our role in the city and the region – but through it all, our mission remains to serve our students, and our community. Now the Cape Group is a new partner helping us fulfill this mission which will help support students and research.”
“Today we symbolically move around a little dirt, but in reality we are moving into the future. We’re building around a university that is unique and diverse in the heart of a community that is becoming just as unique and diverse.”
TRU Community Trust board chair, Frank Quinn praised Cape for the quality of their design and attention to the university environment, stating that the Trust was “grateful that such a well-designed and well-appointed building will be the corner stone of development at TRU for the next 3 decades.”
“To be here in Kamloops, in this most dynamic and growing community, is very exciting for us. To be standing here on these traditional lands and be given the privilege of being the first to start on the REACH’s journey is both meaningful and thrilling,” said Reisa Schwartzman, President of Cape about their new venture.
Finlay Sinclair, CEO of the Trust added that “The TRU Community Trust, could not have asked for a better company…a better group of people to design, construct, and market our first building,”
In closing, Cape founder and CEO, Ralph Schwartzman said “We at Cape Group look forward to becoming a living part of Kamloops. To be a part of the Reach and TRU’s journey for many years.”
Construction is slated for completion by Fall 2019 and is already 40% pre-sold. The Creston House show suite is open at Brendan Shaw’s Real Estate Office located at 109 Victoria St. Kamloops BC.
