The ribbon has been cut signifying the official grand opening of Legacy Square in Kamloops, Kelson Group’s newest apartment building. The 77-suite rental building situated on the campus at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is already fully rented, marking the launch of Kamloops’ newest rental community as an exciting success for the company.

“Our team is very happy with how the Legacy Square development came together,” said Jason Fawcett, Vice President of Operations for Kelson Group. “This development was our second new build here in Kamloops after Peterson Landing in Sahali, and the first on the TRU campus as a part of The Reach’s master plan. We feel fortunate that there were very few challenges along the way allowing Legacy Square be developed on time and on budget and enabling us to welcome the first of our new residents earlier this past fall.”

Among the Kelson team and special dignitaries in attendance at the grand opening event was TRU Community Trust President Jennifer Stites, who talked about the exciting partnership with the Kelson Group team.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Kelson Group on this monumental accomplishment,” said Stites. “It has been a pleasure to work with Ron Fawcett and his fantastic team on this project. In welcoming these new residents, TRU Community Trust is one step closer to realizing its vision, to build a university neighbourhood that enhances campus life, and to generate revenue to support students and university initiatives such as bursaries and research grants.”

Legacy Square, named to highlight the legacy of TRU in the community, is a 5 storey, 77-suite residential development combining style, comfort, and convenience overlooking the Thompson River valleys. The residence is close to shopping, business, financial services, and recreational opportunities. Also complimenting the cat friendly building are the many amenities residents will enjoy on the property including in-suite laundry, private balconies with some 5th floor suites boasting private rooftop decks, smart suite technology, an amenity room and common rooftop space, underground parking, and extra storage for electric and non-electric bikes.

At the grand opening, Fawcett also announced the name of Legacy Square’s “sister” apartment building – Liberty Pointe – a five storey, 42 suite multi-family development already under construction at TRU, just a few hundred metres away. It’s the company’s hope that with the success of Legacy Square, Liberty Pointe will also deliver that same value and convenience for those who would choose to live in this beautiful area of the city.
